The Lam Dong Province People’s Committee recently announced it would legally recognize 52 Stieng and Chau Ma ethnic families, who for generations have inhabited a 320- hectare area in Phuoc Cat No. 2 Commune of Cat Tien District. The area is also home to the Cat Loc Rhinoceros Reserve.

A new picture of Javan rhino, a mother and a newborn calf, was recently recorded using a camera trap set up by WWF scientists in Ujung Kulon National Park. The camera which was set up in Citadahan area on November 2007 shows a calf with an estimated age 4 to 6 months next to its mother.
